Boosting Your Productivity With AI: Using AI for Reasoning

No matter where you work, you’ll need to reason through tasks. Some common examples that LLMs can help with include:

  • Analyzing the logic in a business proposal

  • Reviewing the rationale behind a marketing strategy

  • Critiquing the conclusions of a research report

  • Evaluating the arguments in a legal brief

  • Arguing for a pay raise

And there are so many more! If you want some help with tasks like these, we suggest you input the relevant details into an LLM, and ask it to do one or more of the following:.

  1. Identify logical flaws

  2. Suggest alternative arguments

  3. Offer additional considerations

Here’s an example of this in action:

This is a pretty reasonable set of responses! However, It should be noted that complex reasoning is something that LLMs still struggle with. You shouldn’t assume that what an LLM tells you is accurate, and you should think carefully about the reasoning it presents you. You will probably have the best results if you treat LLMs as tools that can point you in the right direction, rather than tools that can do all your reasoning for you.
